Christmas was formally declared a United States Federal Holiday in the 1800’s.
Christmas is the most celebrated holiday worldwide. It’s traditional underpinnings of joy and peace can inherently serve as a powerful human unifying factor.
However in 1958 a ideology was launched, aided by AIPAC, to included Hanukkah as part of the national celebration and the words Merry Christmas became politicized as discriminatory. The Jewish goal was to replace the phrase Merry Christmas with happy holidays and include Jewish symbols along side Christmas symbols.
Christmas is an American holiday that can be celebrated as desired on an individual basis. Politicizing Christmas by saying you don’t recognize it because you are Jewish, is like saying you don’t recognize Martin Luther King Day because you are not Black. Both are American holidays. Enjoy all national holidays if you are an American.
Christians acquiesced but it soon created a larger gap in the social consciousness. Today there should be no shame in wishing fellow Americans Merry Christmas.
Seems time we get the country back on track as one nation under God. Merry Christmas.
